According to Npower minister, FG to register another 400,000 youths under N-power in the near future — Minister

Sadiya Umar-Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, announced on Wednesday that the Federal Government will shortly enlist another 400,000 young people under the N-power initiative.

The youths will be enrolled in Batch C2 for the program, which is designed to provide them with life-long skills, according to Umar-Farouq.

During the conclusion ceremony for over 3,000 young adults from the Northwest zone trained in software and hardware skills under the Batch C1 of the N-Knowledge component of the N-Power programme, the Minister was represented by her Deputy Director, Finance and Account, Muhammad Sambo..

"It is no longer news that Mr. President has approved the expansion of N-Power to accommodate one million beneficiaries," she writes. We meticulously implemented this, with Batch C1 accommodating a total of 510,000 beneficiaries and Batch C2 set to begin shortly. This is in order to increase the number of Nigerian youngsters that participate in the program.

"It is common knowledge that the N-Power program is an important component of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development's (FMHADMSD) National Social Investment Programs, which are designed to achieve the national objectives of poverty reduction and job creation. The N-Power initiative is critical in assisting young Nigerians in acquiring and developing life-long skills that would enable them to become community solution providers and entrepreneurs.

"The N-Power Volunteer Corps is a graduate program; N-Power Build is a non-graduate program; and N-Power Knowledge is a non-graduate program that encompasses the N-Tech Hardware, N-Tech Software, and N-Creative training programs" (Animation and Scriptwriting).

"The N-Knowledge program aims to provide young Nigerians with the necessary skills and certifications to enable them to function as competent workers, inventors, and entrepreneurs in both the domestic and global digital labor market." The N-Knowledge program aims to upskill 20,000 young Nigerians to put them on the map as exporters of world-class creative and information technology services and content. The 7,000-pound gap will be made up as quickly as practicable to fulfill the 20,000-pound target set for this tranche.

"This training component is aimed at fostering youth capabilities in software development, hardware training, and the creative sector, which is catalytic as well as the foundation for Nigeria to participate in the software development outsourcing market."

"It will create skills and capacities along the value chain of website development, mobile app maintenance, and start the talent development effort for the expansion of Nigeria's information technology industry," says the statement.
